PRAYER FOR CHRISTIAN UNITY HERE: Tuesday, January 18 from 7 pm to 9 p.m. , organized by The Focolare Movement. The Focolare, founded in Trent, Italy after WWII, is present today in 182 nations & reaches over 5 million people. Their goal is one of striving towards the fulfillment of Jesus’ prayer to the Father, "May they all be one" (John 17:21). A WOMEN’S CONCERN has opened a new pregnancy help center in Fall River so as to support mothers in the Southcoast region. Steve Massoud is our parish contact person. AWC asks parishes to participate in the Baby Bottle Campaign. Our parish will receive Baby Bottles for individuals & families to take home, fill with change and return at the end of the month. We are participating in this program during January, during which falls National Sanctity of Human Life Week (beginning January 22). Thank you for your generosity!

ADOPTION BY CHOICE, a program of Catholic Social Services, will sponsor an adoption info session on Sunday, Jan. 23 from 1:30 to 3:30 at the CSS office, 1600 Bay St, Fall River. This session will be for all interested in adopting a domestic newborn of a child born in a foreign country. Please call CSS at 674-4681 for info & directions. Handouts & refreshments will be available. There is no charge. (Snow date – Sunday, Jan. 30).

ENGLISH CLASS are offered by Nancy and John Wednesdays from 7 to 9 p.m. in the rectory. It is open to anyone who would like to improve their English. PUBLICITY FOR THE BOOK of the Historical Memory of the Diocesan Hispanic Apostolate (a bilingual history of the 7 parishes) is being sold so that the book may be published in early 2005. A ½ page ad costs $120. It might be a good place to remember a deceased loved one or to give thanks to Mary, St. Jude or St. Anthony. Eucharistic Adoration: Now on Wednesdays: From 7 to 9 p.m. we will have Eucharistic Adoration, with the Rosary prayed at 7:20, a talk at 8 p.m., Night Prayer & Benediction at 8:45, and Confession is offered during the evening. Please enter from the Fair Street Parking lot.

WHAT IF I HAVE A COLD? The Diocese of Fall River put out a notice regarding the flu season this week. It reads, "As we approach the cold & flu season, care should be taken in the distribution and reception of Holy Communion. Those who minister the cup are reminded to wipe both the inside and the outside of the rim and turn the cup and purificator after each reception by a communicant. In addition, after proper purification all chalices should be cleansed with hot water after each Mass using the sacrarium. All ministers of Holy Communion should thoroughly cleanse their hands prior to and after Mass. If a Special Minster of Holy Communion is showing cold/flu symptoms, he/she should refrain, if at all possible, from the exercise of one’s ministry at that particular time. Communicants showing cold or flu symptoms should refrain from the reception of the Precious Blood at Mass. While ‘Holy Communion has a fuller form as a sign when it is distributed under both kinds…the Catholic faith teaches that Christ, whole and entire, is received under only one species’ (General Instruction of the Roman Missal, 2000). Finally, participants at Mass who show cold or flu symptoms or are concerned about their own health should use common sense in participating in the ritual action of handshaking during the sign of peace. A simple nod of the head, along with the greeting ‘peace be with you’ extended to those nearby would be an adequate response."

SPANISH EVANGELIZATION TEAM goes to homes to have "Spiritual Fiestas" (which are a combination of witness talks, prayer and songs of praise) and then follow-up classes in doctrine. The next Spiritual Feast will be held at the home of Jesenia, 28 Katherine St., 1^st floor, on Saturday, January 15 at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome.

SI ESTAS ENFERMO/A o estas refriado, o tienes monga o cualquier otra enfermedad, La Diocesis de Fall River ha escrito esta semana que se debe hacer. Dice la carta, "Se acerca la temporada de los resfriados y de la monga, hay que tener ciudado en la distribución y recepción de la Sagrada Comunión. Los que administran el caliz deben recordar de limpiar el caliz por fuera y por dentro y de girar el caliz y el purificador despues de cada persona que bebe la Sangre. Ademas, despues de la debida purificación, todos los calices deben ser lavados con agua caliente despues de cada Misa, usando el "sacrarium" (el tubo que ya directo a la tierra). Todos los ministros de la Sagrada Comunión deben lavar sus manos atentamente antes y despues de Misa. Si un ministro especial de la Sagrada Comunión tiene sintomas de resfriado o monga, él/ella debe ausentarse, si es posible, de ejercer su ministerio durante ese tiempo. Feligreses que tienen sintomas de resfriado o monga no deben recibir la Sangre Preciosa en la Misa. Aunque ‘La Sagrada Communion tiene una forma mas plena de señal cuando se distribuye bajo las 2 especies…la Fe Catolica enseña que Cristo, totalmente y plenamente, es recibido aun bajo una sola especie’ (Instrucción General del Misal Romano, 2000). En fin, los participantes en la Misa que tienen sintomas de resfriado o monga o que se preocupan por su propia salud deben usar su sentido comun en cuanto a dando la mano en la Señal de la Paz….Una respuesta adequada puede ser un saludo con una inclinación de la cabeza con la salutación ‘la paz esté contigo’ a los que nos rodean."

Adoración Eucaristica Cada Miercoles – De 7 a 9 p.m. tenemos Adoración Eucaristica, con el rosario a las 7:20, una charla a las 8 p.m., Oración de la Noche y Bendicción Eucaristica a las 8:45. El padre está disponible para confesar durante la adoración. Hay que entrar por la puerta del Parking que se entra por Fair Street.

CLASES DE BAUTISMO: Como siempre, las clases en preparación para el bautismo se dan los 2os y 3er domingos de mes, despues de la Misa de las 11:30. Por favor, habla con el padre sobre los padrinos.

CLASE DE ESPAÑOL se ofrece los Martes a las 7 p.m. en la rectoria.

CLASE DE INGLES: Todos estan invitados a estas clases en donde podrán ir aprendiendo el ingles que les ayudará a una mejor comunicación con la comunidad Americana, comunicando en el trabajo y a los que vayan a presentar el exámen de Ciudadania. Les ayudará sucar la Ciudadania de los EE.UU. Los maestros, Nancy y John, nos esperan cada miercoles a las 7 p.m. en la rectoria. ADOPCION POR ELECCION, un programa de los Servicios Sociales Catolicos (CSS), tendrá una sesión de información el domingo, 23 de enero desde la 1:30 hasta las 3:30 en la Oficina de CSS, 1600 Bay St., Fall River. ORACION PARA LA UNION DE LOS CRISTIANOS AQUI el martes, 18 de enero de 7 a 9 p.m. en la Iglesia. El movimiento Focolare la organiza. El movimiento Focolare fue fundado en Trento, Italia despues de la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Está presente en 182 naciones y tiene mas de 5 millones de miembros. Focolare significa "lugar con fuego." Chiara Lubich, junto con un pequeño grupo de amigas, se dio cuenta que Dios es el unico ideal por el cual vale la pena vivir y como resultado centraron su vida en el Evangelio. Muchos otros las seguieron. Se volvió su objetivo el esfuerzo de cumplir la oración de Jesus al Padre: "Que todos sean uno" (Juan 17, 21). AYUDA PARA MADRES NECESITADAS: "A Women’s Concern" es un Nuevo centro de asistencia en Fall River que ayuda mamas de nuestra diocesis que tienen problemas con su embarazo. Nuestro organista, Steve, es la persona de contacto de nuestra parroquia. AWC pide que participemos en su Campaña de Biberones. Cada persona puede llevar un biberón (Baby bottle) a casa, llenarlo con monedas y devolverlo aquí al terminar este mes de enero, mes en que cae la Semana Nacional de la Sanctidad de la Vida Humana (comenzando el 22 de enero). Gracias por su generosidad.
