PARISH FESTIVAL

A meeting was held two weeks ago to make plans for our festival on the second weekend of August. Although the help is very good for the actual weekend, the help for setting up the booths and taking them down needs attention. We are in need of carpenters or people who have carpentry skills to set up the booths and take them down. The committee suggested that a request for help be put in the bulletin. We need to know by the next meeting (April 4) if there are any parishioners who have these skills and are willing to help. Please call the rectory before the next meeting. We need to make final decisions about the festival at the next meeting.

FOOD FOR THE POOR IN LENT

St. James’ St. Vincent de Paul Society invites parishioners to participate in our food collection during the season of Lent. Certain items are collected each week so that we will be able to give adequate food to the poor families of the parish each week of the year. This is a way that the poor can accompany us on our Lenten journey.

EASTER FLOWERS ENVELOPES

Parishioners are invited to write the names of their deceased loved ones on the envelope with their contribution for the flowers that will used to decorate the church at Easter. These names will be published in the Easter Sunday bulletin. Please return these envelopes no later than Palm Sunday, April 8.

Also, the rice bowls and sacrificial cards should be placed in the first collection on Palm Sunday.

The Parish Mission that will be held at the Church of the Holy Name of the Heart of Jesus on Mt. Pleasant St. in New Bedford is for the whole city of New Bedford.
