coming together st. James Parish St. anne parish Nuestra senora de Guadalupe parish St. hedwig parish A task force has been formed with representatives of each of the four parishes. The members from St. James are: Carol Sylvia, Kathy Murphy, and Al Lima. The clergy members from St. James are Fr. Richard Wilson and Deacon Larry. The purpose of the task force is to find ways to bring people of the four parishes together so that people can know one another. Another goal is for the task force to express to one another what the parishioners of their parishes are feeling; questions that parishioners may still have; or suggestions that parishioners may have to make the merger smoother. The task force meets each time in one of the four parishes. After certain items are discussed, the members are invited to see the church that is hosting the meeting. It gives the task force an opportunity to see the beauty of each church and the symbols of that church that are special to the parishioners. As time goes on, the task force may be able to choose the sacred items that will come to St. James church building from each of the parishes. It is hoped that the parishioners of these four parishes will feel more at home seeing a religious object that comes from their church building. It is understood that everything cannot come to St. James Church building. However, certain religious symbols that are very important to each parish will be considered by the task force. Parishioners of St. James and the other parishes are encouraged to speak to their representatives to give ideas of what they might like to see happen during this time of transition.
FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK This will be my last letter to you because today is my last day at St. James. With the Bishop’s approval I will use the coming weeks to go on retreat and take vacation as I await my next assignment. I do not know where I will be assigned. I expect to find this out in June. "Good-bye" is a very difficult word. It has to be said so that the next chapter can begin to be lived. "Thank you", however, is a very wonderful word that seems so inadequate to express the gratitude that I feel to all of you in making these ten years a time of personal growth. I certainly could not have been your pastor without the support and help of so many of you. I hope to return to celebrate the Saturday 4 p.m. Mass on April 24 and join you for refreshments in the hall after the Mass. I would like to conclude by saying how happy I am that you have received Fr. Richard so well. He is most competent, personal and intelligent. He is full of zeal and energy. He is the best choice for this chapter in our parish’s journey. I know you will be very happy with him as time goes on. I also know that he will do everything to make the parishioners of the other three parishes most welcomed. His experiences in his time as a priest will serve the merger well. Once again: thank you and good-bye.
