RENEW* RENEW* RENEW* RENEW* Hopefully this word is familiar to you. It is a process to renew parishes which Bishop O’Malley has mandated for all parishes. It is preparing all the parishes to celebrate the centennial of the Diocese in 2004. There are many facets to this process of Renew. The centerpiece of Renew are the faith sharing groups that meet once a week for six weeks beginning in October and in Lent. There are booklets which present certain themes that come from the Catechism of the Catholic Church and from Scripture. Once in a group, no one has to participate but just to listen, if one wishes. During these six week periods, the parish weekend Masses will have certain special touches. Pamphlets will also be available for those parishioners who cannot participate in a group. These will include a short meditation for each day. The special Day of Prayer that is scheduled for September 15 in the Church Hall will be the kick-off for this program in our parish. There will sign up opportunities in September to register for this day and for the discussion groups. Members of the Core Community concluded that parishioners still do not understand what Renew is. They will speak at all the Masses next weekend to explain what Renew is. PARISH FINANCIAL COUNCIL wishes to announce that the painting of the trim on the windows in the front of the Church has begun. This project was approved by the Financial Council and by Bishop O’Malley. When this project is completed, the entire outside trim on the Church will be done. The painting of the side interior entrances and the fixing of the ceiling in the gathering area has yet to be done. This also has been approved. FR. ROSEMOND JOSEPH is the superior of his order in Haiti for two months while the Provincial Superior is in Rome for a meeting. As superior, Rosemond has to do the shopping for the house, take care of guests, and provide hospitality for those of his order who stay there. He has the responsibility of looking out for the others of his order during this time, Fr. Rosemond celebrated Mass at the Church of St. Anthony on its Feast Day. This is the church where Rosemond was a deacon. He has to travel ten hours by bus to visit his mother and family who are preparing themselves for the day in September when Rosemond must leave them to go to Brazil for three years to do missionary work. His English is getting better by the day. He sends his best "to his parish" in the U.S. |
