The main source of revenue for any parish is the offertory collection each week. Money raising activities are helpful but can never take the place of the weekly collection. It is appreciated when parishioners who have not attended Mass at St. James for a number of weeks place the envelopes of those Sundays in the collection when they come the next time to St. James. St. James is in need of each parishioner’s contribution each weekend.

Disabilities Workshop

August 21, 2001

10-2 p.m.

Cathedral Camp

Aging? Concerned about the future care of your loved one with a disability? This workshop will help parents / caregivers of adult children with disabilities prepare for the future planning of their loved ones by giving an overview of the planning process, describing community resources and reviewing trusts and wills. A luncheon will be provided. Call Denise at Catholic Social Services 508-997-7337 to register before August 17.

ST. JAMES HEALTH CARE MINISTRY

A receptacle for used eye glasses has been placed in the gathering area of the church near the parish library. It is the courtesy of the Lion’s Club. Hundreds of thousands of people in the third world countries have been serviced with glasses through the efforts of the Lions.

We are also collecting hearing aides, which can be overhauled and reassembled for distribution to

poor people in our country. Join the Health Care Committee in supporting this worthwhile cause.

ST. JAMES EDUCATION COMMITEE

ST. JAMES LENDING LIBRARY

has acquired several new books and videos for the children of our parish. The animated videos are titled: "The Day the Sun Danced";

"Juan Diego, Messenger of Guadalupe"; "Bernadette , Princess of Lourdes"; and "My Secret Friend- A Guardian Angel Story".

Please be sure to write your name and phone number in the take out book and return videos the next week. (Books can be signed out for two weeks.) No renewals on video’s please.

The Lending Library can be a valuable resource for our parish when used responsibly.

The education Committee has noted the loss of many books and nearly all of the library’s video’s over the past three years due to people forgetting to return them or not signing them out. Please help us to serve our parish better by treating our library like any other library. If anyone would like to make a cash donation to purchase more videos or new catholic books, please contact Kathleen Massoud: 993-7325
