FIRST SUNDAY EUCHARISTIC ADORATION: Today (Sunday) beginning after the 11:30 Mass and continuing ‘til 5 p.m. in the chapel. From 4 to 5 p.m. there will be a Holy Hour for Vocations, ending with Benediction. Please drop by and spend some time with your Lord as to ask Him to bless your work (on the eve of Labor Day) or studies (as they begin again) or life as we move from Summer into Fall.

CCD TEACHERS are needed for Grades 7, 8 and 9. If interested, please speak with Mrs. Mary Worden, our director, after the Masses or by calling the rectory and leaving a message.

 

REGISTRATION FOR CCD – Registration for this year’s classes will be held this weekend and next after the Masses. Classes will begin the week of September 19. Please mark your calendars. Passing on the faith is such a vital task, beginning with parents and Godparents, and then assisted by our dedicated Religious Education teachers.

 

Deacon Karl Bissinger will be heading back to Rome soon to continue his studies. To say goodbye we’ll have a reception for him Today (Sunday) after the 10 a.m. Mass IN THE RECTORY. Even if you go to another Mass, please drop by around 11 a.m. to wish him well. We look forward to his ordination next summer & will keep him in our prayers.

 

Annual Penny Sale will take place Monday, Nov. 1 in the church hall.  Mark your calendar!  If you are doing any Fall cleaning, please put aside articles you want to give for the White Elephant table. Dates for drop off will be given at a later date in the bulletin. Due to insurance regulations we are not able to accept electrical items of any sort that have been used. We won't be selling books, shoes or clothing.

 

BISHOP COLEMAN TO VISIT our parish on Sunday, September 26. He will celebrate the 10 a.m. Mass and install Father Wilson as pastor. The Mass will reflect our multiethnic community and be followed by a reception. If you would like to help organize this reception, please contact the rectory.

 

RENEW: Please save in your calendars Saturday, September 25, from 9 a.m. to 2:30. That day the Diocesan RENEW office, together with other diocesan agencies, is preparing a day on Social Justice. It will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 4256 Acushnet Ave., in the North End, and will include faith sharing, presentations, Mass and lunch.

 

ALTAR SERVERS CLASS: A class will be held for the new altar servers (or for any old ones who want to review) this Thursday at 4:30 in the Church.

 

GOING TO COMMUNION: Please allow the Eucharistic ministers time to get to their positions before coming forward to receive the Eucharist. This will help to make this important moment in the Mass (the highlight of our week) less chaotic and more prayerful. Thank you for your cooperation.

FEELING A COLD COMING ON?? If you are aware of any germ you may be carrying, please decline receiving from the Chalice until you are feeling better. Whether we’re receiving the Host or drinking from the Chalice, we are receiving All of the Body and Blood of Christ. Please be considerate of your brothers and sisters in the Lord.

 

BABY SUPPLIES NEEDED: Project PALM (Protect all the Little Munchkins) is looking for your help in assisting new mothers and newborns. Thanks to those who have been dropping off items. PALM was founded by Bishop Stang Seniors Allysa Piché & Matthew Lecuyer. Donations can be dropped off in marked boxes in the back of the church through next weekend. The following new, unused items are needed: baby soap & shampoo, baby wipes, bibs, blankets, booties, bottles, disposable diapers, diaper rash ointment, lotions, onesies, pacifiers, socks, and washcloths. Please do not give baby food, formula or perishable food items. Thank you for your collaboration!

 

Eucharistic Adoration: Now on Wednesdays: From 7 to 9 p.m. we will have Eucharistic Adoration, with the Rosary prayed at 7:20, a talk at 8 p.m., Night Prayer & Benediction at 8:45 and Confessions during the evening.

 

FUNDRAISING DINNER FOR UIA will be held on Saturday, Sept. 18 from 6 to 11 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Auditorium. Soup, Caciola, and chicken will be served family style. Tickets at $15 for adults and $7 for kids 10 & under and may be purchased at the rectory. UIA MEETING: a planning meeting for UIA will be held This Thursday at 7 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Church.

 

YOUTH GROUP will meet on Thursday, Sept. 9 at 7:45. The biweekly meetings consist of a mixture of prayer, sharing and fun. All middle & high schoolers welcome. We will have a barbeque afternoon to close out the summer Sunday, Sept. 12 here, from 1 to 5 p.m. Please feel free to check it out.

 

HOSPICE VOLUNTEERS: Community Nurse & Hospice Care invites compassionate individuals to be a part of their volunteer team. Training sessions are Mondays & Wednesdays, beginning this Wednesday, Sept. 8 and concluding Oct. 13. They’re held 5:30-7:30 at 62 Center St., Fairhaven. FARMERS’ MARKET on Clasky Common continues every Saturday, rain or shine, from now ‘til October 30th. The common is located on Purchase Street, 3 blocks north of Glaser Glass. ADOPTION INFO SESSION will provided by Catholic Social Services (CSS) on Tuesday, Sept. 14 from 7 to 9 p.m. at CSS, 1600 Bay St., Fall River. This session will be for all persons interested in adopting a domestic newborn or a child born outside of the USA. Please call CSS at 674-4681 for info & directions. NONVIOLENT COMMUNICATION: Learn how to express yourself with the language of compassion in a one day workshop this Saturday, Sept. 11 from 9:30 to 5 at the First Congregational Church, Center & William Sts., Fairhaven. A day remembered for its extreme violence is now your opportunity to master the simple technique of authentic communication that will change your life, transform your relationships and create an environment of peace. PIZZA, PIPES & PONIES, A fundraiser to benefit the pipe organ fund at our cathedral in Fall River will be held at the Fall River Carousel (next to Battleship Cove) Friday, Sept. 17 from 6 to 9 p.m. There will be an opportunity to sponsor an organ pipe as well as a raffle, food, photos & carousel rides. CENTENNIAL OF THE DIOCESE OF FALL RIVER

CENTENNIAL ROSARY CELEBRATION

Please save in your calendar Monday, October 11 (Columbus Day). That day the Diocese will have the closing ceremony of its Centennial, with a giant Rosary Celebration out at LaSalette in Attleboro. The celebration will begin with a Concert of Praise at 12:15, followed by a banner procession, the Rosary led by over 50 people from around the diocese, Eucharistic Adoration and Benediction, and some words from our shepherd, Bishop George Coleman. It should be a great day for the entire family. We will hire buses so as to travel together from here. So please save the date!

HISTORY BOOK OF THE DIOCESE

"Bearing Fruit by Streams of Waters," the newly published history of the Diocese of Fall River, is on sale in the rectory for $20. This limited addition book begins with the work of the church in our area before the 1904 founding of the diocese and traces the various developments over the past century. If you would like to buy a copy, please speak to one of the priests or deacons (after Masses) or Carol Sylvia or Ana Medina (at the rectory). It might make a good gift or a keepsake to hand on to later generations.

 

ENGLISH CLASS has begun. Nancy Medeiros is offering it Wednesdays from 7 to 9 p.m. in the rectory. It is open to anyone who would like to improve their English. Nancy can speak Spanish and Portuguese, so people of either background should have no problem. For more info, either to be a student or to help teaching, please contact Nancy at 993-9612.

 

ESL CLASSES offered by Catholic Social Services will begin in the fall. Registration will be held on this Thursday, Sept.9 from 1 to 7 p.m. at the Sister Anne Marie Phillips Learning Center, corner of Delano & South Second Sts. Classes will be assigned on that day in local locations. If you cannot go that day, please call Sheila Sullivan at 508-997-7337 on any Thursday to arrange for registration.

FIESTA ESPIRITUAL: This is a project the Spanish Evangelization team carries out of bringing the message of the Gospel to people’s homes. It is not a "fiesta" in the sense of partying, but a joyful evening of prayer and reflection on the Gospel message. If you would like to try out a little Spanish, please feel free to come this Saturday at 6:30 to the home of Sylvia Frias (6 Parkham Dr., Wareham).

REGISTRACION PARA EL CATECISMO: Haremos las registraciones para el catecismo este fin de semana y el próximo fin de semana después de las Misas. Las clases comenzarán la semana del 19 de septiembre. El comunicar la fe es una tarea tan esencial, comenzando con los padres y padrinos, y luego ayudado por nuestros catequistas tan dedicados.

VISITA DEL OBISPO COLEMAN: Nuestro Obispo vendrá el Domingo, 26 de septiembre, para celebrar la Misa de las 10 y instalar P. Wilson como nuestro párroco. La Misa sera bilingue y tendremos una convivencia despues de la Misa (Tendremos el horario normal de las Misas ese fin de semana, pero esperamos que la mayoría de la gente venga a la de las 10 a.m.).

Tendremos la "Penny Sale" el Lunes, 1 de noviembre en el salon parroquial. Por favor, reserva la fecha en tu calendario. Si estás limpiando tu casa, por favor aparta cosas que podemos vender en la mesa "White Elephant." Mas adelante pondremos información en el boletín sobre cuando puedes traer esas cosas aquí. A causa de las reglas de las compañías de seguros, no podemos aceptar cosas electricas usadas. También no vendemos libros, zapatos o ropa.

CLASE PARA MONAGUILLOS NUEVOS – este Jueves a las 4:30 en la iglesia para nuevos monaguillos o para otros que quieren repasar lo que tienen que hacer.

EQUIPO DE EVANGELIZACION: Van a las casas par hacer Fiestas Espirituales y luego tienen clases de evangelización para ayudar a familias para que crezcan en la fe. Si quieres que vengan a tu casa, habla con Santos & Judith Vazquez (992-3595), Marita Maciel (991-2275), Tere (774-202-3014) o Laura (984-7976) o Rallito. Este Sábado irán al hogar de Sylvia Frias, 6 Parker Dr., Wareham, a las 6:30. Todos estan bienvenidos.

CLASES DE BAUTISMO: Como siempre, las clases en preparación para el bautismo se dan los 2os y 3er domingos de mes, despues de la Misa de las 11:30.

 

GRUPO DE JOVENES: Jueves, 9 de septiembre – reunión a las 7:45. Domingo, 12 de septiembre – Una tarde de juegos, "barbeque," y diversion, aquí, desde la 1 hasta las 5 p.m.

TALLER DE RENACER: El apostolado hispano, con los Servicios Sociales Catolicos, ha organizado un dia con el enfoque sobre la Justicia Social el Sábado, 25 de septiembre, de 9 a 2:30 en la Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de Fatima, 4256 Acushnet Ave., en el norte de New Bedford. Padre Richard y Hna. Aída han estado trabajando con José Torres y Carlos Wharton para programar este dia. Habrá Misa, almuerzo, talleres de oración y presentaciones sobre la Justicia Social. Adoración Eucaristica Cada Miercoles (Nuevo dia) – De 7 a 9 p.m. tenemos Adoración Eucaristica, con el rosario a las 7:20, una charla a las 8 p.m., Oración de la Noche y Bendicción Eucaristica a las 8:45 y Confesiones durante todo esto.

 

AYUDAS PARA MADRES Y NIÑITOS: El Proyecto PALMA (proteja todos los pequeños Munchkins) está buscando su ayuda en asistir a nuevos madres y recién nacidos. La PALMA fue fundada por 2 alumnos de Bishop Stang High School. Las donaciones se pueden dejar en las cajas marcadas en la parte posteriora de la iglesia hasta el Domingo próximo. Se necesita los artículos siguientes (nuevos, sin ser usados): jabón y champú del bebé, trapos del bebé, baberos, mantas, booties, botellas, pañales disponibles, lociones, "onesies", pacifiers, calcetines, y "washcloths." No dé, por favor, los alimentos para niños o el "formula". ¡Gracias por su colaboración!

 

CUANDO VAS A LA COMUNION, por favor espera hasta que los ministros de la Comunión lleguen a sus lugares. Así este momento importante de la Misa (el momento mas importante de nuestra semana) no sería caotica, sino un momento de oración. Gracias por tu colaboración.

¿SIENTES ENFERMO? Si estás consciente que estás refriado o tienes gripe o la monga o cualquier otra enfermedad, por favor no bebas del Calice hasta que mejores. No importa si solamente estamos comiendo la Hostia o bebiendo del Calice, estamos recibiendo TODO el Cuerpo y Sangre de Cristo. Por favor, piensa en tus hermanos en Cristo.

CENTENARIO DE LA DIÓCESIS de Fall river

CELEBRACIÓN CENTENARIA del ROSARIO

En tu calendario reserva el lunes, 11 de octubre (día de Colón, el dia antes del Dia de la Raza). Ese día la diócesis tendrá la ceremonia de cierre de su centenario, con una gran celebración del Rosario en LaSalette en Attleboro. La celebración comenzará con un concierto de alabanzas (en ingles, español y portugues) a las 12:15, seguido por una procesión, el rosario multilingue, Adoración y Bendición de la Eucharistía, y algunas palabras de nuestro obispo, Monseñor George Coleman. Sería un gran día para la familia entera. Tendremos autobuses/guaguas para viajar juntos de aquí. ¡Ponlo en tu calendario, por favor!

El LIBRO de la HISTORIA DE LA DIÓCESIS "Bearing Fruit by Streams of Water" la historia nuevamente publicada en ingles de la diócesis de Fall River está en venta en la rectoría para $20. Este libro comienza con el trabajo de la iglesia en nuestra zona antes de la fundación de la diócesis en 1904 y cuenta la historia del ultimo siglo. St. James, St. Anne, Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, y St.Hedwig's, cada uno tienen una pequeña sección, y hay mención St. Hyacinth/Regina Pacis también. Si usted quisiera comprar una copia, hable por favor a uno de los sacerdotes o de los diáconos (después de las Misas) o Carol Sylvia o Ana Medina (en la rectoría). Puede ser un buen regalo o un recuerdo para dar a futures generaciones.

CLASE DE INGLES empezó aquí, organizada por Nancy Medeiros. Son utiles para conseguir un mejor empleo, para comunicarse mejor con los medicos, y para conseguir la ciudadanía. CLASES DE E.S.L. ofrecidas por los Servicios Sociales Catolicos (CSS) empezarán en el otoño.
