YOUTH GROUP will have a barbeque afternoon to close out the summer today (Sunday) here, out in the backyard, from 1 to 5 p.m. Please feel free to check it out and have some fun.

REGISTRATION FOR CCD – Registration for this year’s classes will be held this weekend after the Masses. Classes will begin the week of September 19. Please mark your calendars. Passing on the faith is such a vital task, beginning with parents and Godparents, and then assisted by our dedicated Religious Education teachers.

STATIONS OF CROSS THIS TUESDAY: This Tuesday is the Feast of the Triumph of the Cross. In honor of it, we will pray the Stations of the Cross at 7 p.m. in the Church.

CHOIR REHEARSAL: Our Choir will begin its rehearsals again this Tuesday night after the Stations of the Cross in the Church. This week the rehearsal will be brief, but next week we’ll begin again with the rehearsals as usual at 7 p.m. (entering from the Fair St. parking lot door). New members are welcome!

Eucharistic Adoration: Now on Wednesdays: From 7 to 9 p.m. we will have Eucharistic Adoration, with the Rosary prayed at 7:20, a talk at 8 p.m., Night Prayer & Benediction at 8:45 and Confessions during the evening.

EDUCATION COMMITTEE will meet on Thursday at 7:45 in the rectory. This committee works on adult education projects for the parish. If you are interested in helping out with this important mission, please talk to Fr. Richard.

Annual Penny Sale will take place Monday, Nov. 1 in the church hall.  Mark your calendar!  If you are doing any Fall cleaning, please put aside articles you want to give for the White Elephant table. Dates for drop off will be given at a later date in the bulletin. Due to insurance regulations we are not able to accept electrical items of any sort that have been used. We won't be selling books, shoes or clothing.

BISHOP COLEMAN TO VISIT our parish on Sunday, September 26. He will celebrate the 10 a.m. Mass and install Father Wilson as pastor. The Mass will reflect our multiethnic community and be followed by a reception.

WEDDING ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION: Bishop Coleman will celebrate a special Mass of thanksgiving for couples observing significant wedding anniversaries (including first year) during 2004. This celebration will take place on Sunday, Nov. 7 at 3 p.m. at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Fall River. If you would like an invitation, please contact Fr. Richard as soon as possible (He must give the names to the diocese by October 1).

GOING TO COMMUNION: Please allow the Eucharistic ministers time to get to their positions before coming forward to receive the Eucharist. This will help to make this important moment in the Mass (the highlight of our week) less chaotic and more prayerful. Thank you for your cooperation.

FEELING A COLD COMING ON?? If you are aware of any germ you may be carrying, please decline receiving from the Chalice until you are feeling better. Whether we’re receiving the Host or drinking from the Chalice, we are receiving All of the Body and Blood of Christ. Please be considerate of your brothers and sisters in the Lord.

FUNDRAISING DINNER FOR UIA will be held on Saturday, Sept. 18 from 6 to 11 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Auditorium. Soup, Caciola, and chicken will be served family style. Tickets at $15 for adults and $7 for kids 10 & under and may be purchased at the rectory. If you would like to bake a dessert or provide an item for the raffle table, please feel free to contact Suzanne Braga at Suzannebee@aol.com . FARMERS’ MARKET on Clasky Common continues every Saturday, rain or shine, from now ‘til October 30^th. The common is located on Purchase Street, 3 blocks north of Glaser Glass. The market is open 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and educational or entertainment programs are offered along with the produce. Cash and EBT cards are accepted.

ADOPTION INFO SESSION will provided by Catholic Social Services (CSS) on Tuesday, Sept. 14 from 7 to 9 p.m. at CSS, 1600 Bay St., Fall River. This session will be for all persons interested in adopting a domestic newborn or a child born outside of the USA. Please call CSS at 674-4681 for info & directions. There is no charge for the session.

PIZZA, PIPES & PONIES, A fundraiser to benefit the pipe organ fund at our cathedral in Fall River will be held at the Fall River Carousel (next to Battleship Cove) Friday, Sept. 17 from 6 to 9 p.m. There will be an opportunity to sponsor an organ pipe as well as a raffle, food, photos & carousel rides. CENTENNIAL OF THE DIOCESE OF FALL RIVER: CENTENNIAL ROSARY CELEBRATION Please save in your calendar Monday, October 11 (Columbus Day). That day the Diocese will have the closing ceremony of its Centennial, with a giant Rosary Celebration out at LaSalette in Attleboro. The celebration will begin with a Concert of Praise at 12:15, followed by a banner procession at 1 p.m., the Rosary led by over 50 people from around the diocese praying the Luminous Mysteries, Eucharistic Adoration and Benediction, and some words from our shepherd, Bishop George Coleman. A large choir made up of representatives from throughout the diocese will lead us in songs of praise and thanksgiving. The event will conclude at 4 p.m. It should be a great day for the entire family. We will hire buses so as to travel together from here.

ENGLISH CLASS has begun. Nancy Medeiros is offering it Wednesdays from 7 to 9 p.m. in the rectory. It is open to anyone who would like to improve their English. Nancy can speak Spanish and Portuguese, so people of either background should have no problem. For more info, either to be a student or to help teaching, please contact Nancy at 993-9612.

REGISTRACION PARA EL CATECISMO: Haremos las registraciones para el catecismo este fin de semana después de las Misas. Las clases comenzarán la semana del 19 de septiembre. El comunicar la fe es una tarea tan esencial, comenzando con los padres y padrinos, y luego ayudado por nuestros catequistas tan dedicados.

VISITA DEL OBISPO COLEMAN: Nuestro Obispo vendrá el Domingo, 26 de septiembre, para celebrar la Misa de las 10 y instalar P. Wilson como nuestro párroco. La Misa sera bilingue y tendremos una convivencia despues de la Misa (Tendremos el horario normal de las Misas ese fin de semana, pero esperamos que la mayoría de la gente venga a la de las 10 a.m.).

Tendremos la "Penny Sale" el Lunes, 1 de noviembre en el salon parroquial. Por favor, reserva la fecha en tu calendario. Si estás limpiando tu casa, por favor aparta cosas que podemos vender en la mesa "White Elephant." Mas adelante pondremos información en el boletín sobre cuando puedes traer esas cosas aquí. A causa de las reglas de las compañías de seguros, no podemos aceptar cosas electricas usadas. También no vendemos libros, zapatos o ropa.

EQUIPO DE EVANGELIZACION: Van a las casas par hacer Fiestas Espirituales y luego tienen clases de evangelización para ayudar a familias para que crezcan en la fe. MISA DIOCESANA PARA ANIVERSARIOS: El Obispo Coleman celebrará una Misa especial para matrimonies casados por la Iglesia que estan observando aniversarios (incluso el 1º) especiales durante 2004 el Domingo, 7 de noviembre a las 3 p.m. en la Catedral en Fall River. Si quiren una invitación, habla con P. Richard antes del 1º de octubre.

COMITE DE LA EDUCACION: tendrá una reunión el Jueves a las 7:45 en la rectoria. Este comite desarrolla programas de educación para adultos en la parroquia. Si tienes interes en siendo miembro, habla con P. Richard

CLASES DE BAUTISMO: Como siempre, las clases en preparación para el bautismo se dan los 2os y 3er domingos de mes, despues de la Misa de las 11:30.

GRUPO DE JOVENES: Hoy (Domingo) – Una tarde de juegos, "barbeque," y diversion, aquí, desde la 1 hasta las 5 p.m. Ven y disfruta la tarde.

TALLER DE RENACER: El apostolado hispano, con los Servicios Sociales Catolicos, ha organizado un dia con el enfoque sobre la Justicia Social el Sábado, 25 de septiembre, de 9 a 2:30 en la Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de Fatima, 4256 Acushnet Ave., en el norte de New Bedford. Padre Richard y Hna. Aída han estado trabajando con José Torres y Carlos Wharton para programar este dia. Habrá Misa, almuerzo, talleres de oración y presentaciones sobre la Justicia Social. Por favor, reserva el dia en tu calendario.

Adoración Eucaristica Cada Miercoles (Nuevo dia) – De 7 a 9 p.m. tenemos Adoración Eucaristica, con el rosario a las 7:20, una charla a las 8 p.m., Oración de la Noche y Bendicción Eucaristica a las 8:45 y Confesiones durante todo esto.

CUANDO VAS A LA COMUNION, por favor espera hasta que los ministros de la Comunión lleguen a sus lugares. Así este momento importante de la Misa (el momento mas importante de nuestra semana) no sería caotica, sino un momento de oración. Gracias por tu colaboración.

¿SIENTES ENFERMO? Si estás consciente que estás refriado o tienes gripe o la monga o cualquier otra enfermedad, por favor no bebas del Calice hasta que mejores. No importa si solamente estamos comiendo la Hostia o bebiendo del Calice, estamos recibiendo TODO el Cuerpo y Sangre de Cristo. Por favor, piensa en tus hermanos en Cristo.

MERCADO DE FRUTAS Y VERDURAS, el "Farmers’ Market," se hace cada Sábado de 9 a.m. a 1 p.m. en Clasky Common, Purchase Street (3 bloques al norte de Glaser Glass). Se puede comprar con dinero o tarjetas de EBT.

 

CENTENARIO DE LA DIÓCESIS de Fall river: CELEBRACIÓN CENTENARIA del ROSARIO En tu calendario reserva el lunes, 11 de octubre (día de Colón, el dia antes del Dia de la Raza). Ese día la diócesis tendrá la ceremonia de cierre de su centenario, con una gran celebración del Rosario en LaSalette en Attleboro. La celebración comenzará con un concierto de alabanzas (en ingles, español y portugues) a las 12:15, seguido por una procesión, el rosario multilingue, Adoración y Bendición de la Eucharistía, y algunas palabras de nuestro obispo, Monseñor George Coleman. Sería un gran día para la familia entera. Tendremos autobuses/guaguas para viajar juntos de aquí. ¡Ponlo en tu calendario, por favor!

CLASE DE INGLES empezó aquí, organizada por Nancy Medeiros. Son utiles para conseguir un mejor empleo, para comunicarse mejor con los medicos, y para conseguir la ciudadanía. Si quieres ser parte de las clases, puedes venir los Miercoles a las 7 a la rectoria o puedes llamar a Nancy (508-993-9612). También, si hablas bien ingles y quieres ayudarla, por favor llámala.

CENA PARA U.I.A. UIA (Acción Unida Inter-religiosa) tendrá una cena para recaudar fondos para su trabajo aquí en la comunidad el Sábado, 18 de septiembre, de 6 a 11 en el auditorio de Nuestra Señora del Carmen (Mount Carmel, Rivet St.). Entradas son $15 para adultos y $7 para niños (10 o menos de edad). Puedes comprarlas en nuestra rectoria.
