IMPLEMENTING THE CHANGES

NORMS FOR RECEIVING COMMUNION

The slight bowing of the head is the recommended gesture before extending one’s hand or opening one’s mouth for the reception of Holy Communion. (Genuflection before receiving is not the norm that the Bishops’ Conference of our country has established.) It is important that this gesture of slightly bowing one’s head be done before extending the hand to receive Communion. Otherwise, the danger of the sacred Host falling from one’s hand could take place.

This gesture is an act of devotion is union with the worshipping community joined to celebrate Mass. It is a communal act. We need to keep in mind the communal aspect of each person receiving.

FOOD FOR THE POOR

Please join us the weekend of November 29/30 to hear Fr. Gus Gorden speak at all the liturgies about the ministry providing direct relief to the poor throughout Latin America

and the Caribbean.

Fr. Gorden was ordained in 1969 and belongs to the Archdiocese of Castries in St. Lucia

He worked with a hands on ministry in Alabama and has preached on behalf of Food for the Poor for 17 years.

We have placed on the bulletin boards of the church (one at the side entrance and one at the main entrance) a list of times for adoration. We ask parishioners to write their names near the times that they can come. Hopefully all the time slots will be filled to have a successful day of praying for vocations.

Prayer is a very powerful way of having our Church blessed with new vocations.
