FIRST SUNDAY EUCHARISTIC ADORATION Today (Sunday) from after the 11:30 Mass until 5 p.m. The 4 to 5 p.m. hour is a Holy Hour for vocations. Please come and offer your prayers for this important intention. You’ll be helping Father Correia in his new task of finding young people to become priests, brothers and sisters.

PASTRY & PHOTOS THIS SATURDAY: The Hospitality Committee will host a series of opportunities for parishioners to get together informally. This coming Saturday at 7 p.m. we will have "Pastry & Photos," a chance to get together for a little dessert and share photographs of celebrations in the histories of the 4 parishes from which we came, St. James, St. Hedwig, St. Anne & Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe. Please come by the hall with photos/albums of your own to share. If you would like to help in setting up or in providing pastry, please call Carol at the rectory.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION (CCD) – Has begun, with classes today (Sundays) at 9 a.m. for grades 7,8,9. Grades 1-3 meet on Wednesday at 3:15 and Grades 4-6 on Thursday at 3:15. The alternate time for class is Friday at 6 p.m. If your child is not registered yet, please bring them to the time allotted for their grade and register them then. Thank you.

Thanks to all who helped prepare for Bishop Coleman’s visit and my installation last Sunday. To all who prepared the hall and then cleaned it afterwards, brought food to share, worked together to prepare the music, prayed for me, and came to the Mass, Thank you very much!

LITURGICAL COMMITTEE will meet on Tuesday at 6:30 in the rectory. The liturgical committee deals with things having to do with our life of prayer here in the parish, especially the Mass, but also other liturgical acts, such as the Liturgy of the Hours, Eucharistic Adoration, etc. If you would like to come and help to grow in your own understanding of the liturgy and work together to enhance our prayer life, please feel free to come to the meeting.

CHOIR REHEARSAL is at 7:15 p.m. Tuesdays in the Church (entering from the Fair St. parking lot door). New members are most welcome!

HAVING FUN & FUNDRAISING: We would like to discuss with the parishioners what we should be doing in terms of fundraising so as to pay for the expenses of the parish and how to do it in as enjoyable manner as possible. We will have a General Fundraising Meeting on Wednesday, October 27 at 7 p.m. in the Hall. At that time we will discuss whether we should have the festival next year, how we should revamp it to make it more effective (both in terms of fundraising and in terms of making it a fun event which attracts people), and what other activities we could be doing to support the parish. This meeting is open to everyone. Please note it in your calendars. Thank you.

Annual Penny Sale will take place Monday, Nov. 1 in the church hall.  Mark your calendar!  If you are doing any Fall cleaning, please put aside articles you want to give for the White Elephant table. Dates for drop off will be given at a later date in the bulletin. Due to insurance regulations we are not able to accept electrical items of any sort that have been used. Eucharistic Adoration: Now on Wednesdays: From 7 to 9 p.m. we will have Eucharistic Adoration, with the Rosary prayed at 7:20, a talk at 8 p.m., Night Prayer & Benediction at 8:45. Please enter from the Fair Street Parking lot.

ROSARY DURING THE MONTH OF OCTOBER: Mondays & Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. in Church. The rest of the week in people’s homes (Call the rectory to find out where each night or to arrange for the rosary to be prayed in your home).

MARCH FOR LIFE, beginning on Boston Common on Sunday (Today) in the early afternoon. Join Archbishop Sean O’Malley and many friends from various religions in showing our support for the Civilization of Love, in contrast to a culture of death. The rally will be at 1 p.m. on the Common (near Beacon & Charles Streets) and the march at 2 p.m. For more information about going, contact Al Sylvia (995-5034).

GOING TO COMMUNION: Please allow the Eucharistic ministers time to get to their positions before coming forward to receive the Eucharist. This will help to make this important moment in the Mass (the highlight of our week) less chaotic and more prayerful. Thank you for your cooperation.

BLOOD DONATIONS: St. Luke’s Hospital sends us a monthly notice with the number of donors from our parish. We thank those who give but urge more people to help in this critical task of giving life to someone in need. When you give blood, please identify yourself as being from here.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR HOSPICE PROGRAM: Southcoast Hospice is seeking volunteers in the New Bedford and surrounding areas to help make a difference in the lives of those they serve. If you can commit to giving our patients a few hours each week and if you have your own transportation, we would like to talk to you about our training and support network. FARMERS’ MARKET on Clasky Common continues every Saturday, rain or shine, from now ‘til October 30^th. The common is located on Purchase Street, 3 blocks north of Glaser Glass. The market is open 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and educational or entertainment programs are offered along with the produce. Cash and EBT cards are accepted.

YOUTH GROUP will go on Thursday at 7:30 to the Factory of Terror in Fall River. Permission slips are required. All are welcome.

CENTENNIAL OF THE DIOCESE OF FALL RIVER: CENTENNIAL ROSARY CELEBRATION Please save in your calendar Monday, October 11 (Columbus Day). That day the Diocese will have the closing ceremony of its Centennial, with a giant Rosary Celebration out at LaSalette in Attleboro. The celebration will begin with a Concert of Praise at 12:15, followed by a banner procession at 1 p.m., the Rosary led by over 50 people from around the diocese praying the Luminous Mysteries, Eucharistic Adoration and Benediction, and some words from our shepherd, Bishop George Coleman. A large choir made up of representatives from throughout the diocese will lead us in songs of praise and thanksgiving. The event will conclude at 4 p.m. It should be a great day for the entire family. Our bus will leave from in front of the church on County St. at 11 a.m. To reserve a seat, please call or contact the rectory.

HISTORY BOOK OF THE DIOCESE

"Bearing Fruit by Streams of Waters," the newly published history of the Diocese of Fall River, is on sale in the rectory for $20. This limited addition book begins with the work of the church in our area before the 1904 founding of the diocese and traces the various developments over the past century. If you would like to buy a copy, please speak to one of the priests or deacons (after Masses) or Carol Sylvia or Ana Medina (at the rectory). It might make a good gift or a keepsake to hand on to later generations.

ENGLISH CLASS has begun. Nancy Medeiros is offering it Wednesdays from 7 to 9 p.m. in the rectory. It is open to anyone who would like to improve their English. Nancy can speak Spanish and Portuguese, so people of either background should have no problem. For more info, either to be a student or to help teaching, please contact Nancy at 993-9612. We are in need of more volunteer tutors to teach English. Please call Nancy if you would like to help.

LAS FIESTAS DEL VERANO: Queremos hablar con los feligreses sobre el futuro de las fiestas del verano (¿debemos tenerlas? ¿Debemos cambiarlas?) y sobre que otras cosas podemos hacer para recaudar fondos de un modo divertido. Hoy (Domingo), 3 de octubre el Padre Richard y Tim Mitchell (el contador de las fiestas – el hombre grande que le gusta la comida hispana y las rifas) hablarán con el Grupo Guadalupano despues de la Misa de las 11:30 para ver como nosotros como hispanos podemos contribuir al mantenimiento y crecimiento de la parroquía.

Luego tendremos una Reunión General de la Parroquia para hablar de como podemos recaudar fondos mientras hacemos cosas divertidas para la gente. Tendremos la reunión el miercoles, 27 de octubre a las 7 p.m Todos estan bienvenidos a venir y compartir ideas y comprometerse. Por favor, ponlo en tu calendario.

EL GRUPO GUADALUPANO te invita a compartir con ellos y ellas hoy despues de la Misa de las 11:30 en su reunion en la rectoria. Compartiremos la oracion, la reflexión de la Palabra de Dios y la colaboración, organización y realización de las diferentes actividades de la parroquia.

COMITE DE LA LITURGIA tendrá su reunion a las 6:30 el Martes en la rectoria. Este comité brega con nuestro culto divino aquí (las Misas y otras oportunidades de rezar). Si quieres ser parte de este importante equipo, por favor ven a la reunion.

LOS MINISTROS DE LA COMUNION tendrán una reunion el Domingo próximo despues de la Misa de las 11:30.

GRUPO DE JOVENES irá el Jueves a las 7:30 a la "Factory of Terror" en Fall River. Hojas de permiso son un requisito para ir y hay que pagar los $10 para entrar. Todos estan bienvenidos.

C.O.R.I. EN ESPAÑOL: El Sábado que viene tendremos la presentación del "CORI" a las 4 p.m. en el salon para los que van a trabajar con jovenes este año y no pudieron ir a la sesión en ingles o no entendieron. La Hermana Alicia va a hacer la presentación.

EQUIPO DE EVANGELIZACION: Van a las casas par hacer Fiestas Espirituales y luego tienen clases de evangelización para ayudar a familias para que crezcan en la fe. DONACIONES DE SANGRE: St. Luke’s Hospital nos envia cada mes una lista de la gente de la parroquia que han donado sangre allá. Por favor, recuerda a los que estan en necesidad y vete a dar un regalo que da vida a otro. Cuando vayas, hay que identificarte de nuestra parroquia.

CLASES DE BAUTISMO: Como siempre, las clases en preparación para el bautismo se dan los 2os y 3er domingos de mes, despues de la Misa de las 11:30.

Adoración Eucaristica Cada Miercoles (Nuevo dia) – De 7 a 9 p.m. tenemos Adoración Eucaristica, con el rosario a las 7:20, una charla a las 8 p.m., Oración de la Noche y Bendicción Eucaristica a las 8:45.

ADORACION DEL SANTISSIMO HOY (DOMINGO) despues de la Misa de las 11:30 hasta las 5 p.m. De 4 a 5 las oraciones serán para las vocaciones. Por favor, ven y pasa un rato con tu Señor.

MANIFESTACION PRO-VIDA, empezando en el centro de Boston en el "Boston Common" se habrá hoy (Domingo), 3 de octubre al mediodia. El Arzobispo Sean O’Malley estará allá con varios otros lideres. MERCADO DE FRUTAS Y VERDURAS, el "Farmers’ Market," se hace cada Sábado de 9 a.m. a 1 p.m. en Clasky Common, Purchase Street (3 bloques al norte de Glaser Glass). Se puede comprar con dinero o tarjetas de EBT.

 

CENTENARIO DE LA DIÓCESIS de Fall river: CELEBRACIÓN CENTENARIA del ROSARIO En tu calendario reserva el lunes, 11 de octubre (día de Colón, el dia antes del Dia de la Raza). Ese día la diócesis tendrá la ceremonia de cierre de su centenario, con una gran celebración del Rosario en LaSalette en Attleboro. La celebración comenzará con un concierto de alabanzas (en ingles, español y portugues) a las 12:15, seguido por una procesión, el rosario multilingue, Adoración y Bendición de la Eucharistía, y algunas palabras de nuestro obispo, Monseñor George Coleman. Sería un gran día para la familia entera. Nuestro bus/guagua saldrá de aquí a las 11 de la mañana y volveremos alrededor de las 5 p.m. Para reservar una silla, llama a la rectoria.

CLASE DE ESPAÑOL: Carol Oliveira, está dando una clase para aprender el castellano los Martes a las 7 p.m. en la rectoria. Para mas información, llámala a 508-997-8859.

 

CLASE DE INGLES: Todos estan invitados a estas clases en donde podrán ir aprendiendo el ingles que les ayudará a una mejor comunicación con la comunidad Americana, comunicando en el trabajo y a los que vayan a presentar el exámen de Ciudadania. Les ayudará sucar la Ciudadania de los EE.UU. La maestra, Nancy Medeiros, nos espera cada miercoles a las 7 p.m. en la rectoria. Ella generosamente da este tiempo para que ustedes puedan aprender el ingles. Son unas clases muy buenas, Nancy es una excelente maestra. El LIBRO de la HISTORIA DE LA DIÓCESIS "Bearing Fruit by Streams of Water" la historia nuevamente publicada en ingles de la diócesis de Fall River está en venta en la rectoría para $20. Este libro comienza con el trabajo de la iglesia en nuestra zona antes de la fundación de la diócesis en 1904 y cuenta la historia del ultimo siglo. St. James, St. Anne, Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, y St.Hedwig's, cada uno tienen una pequeña sección, y hay mención St. Hyacinth/Regina Pacis también. Si usted quisiera comprar una copia, hable por favor a uno de los sacerdotes o de los diáconos (después de las Misas) o Carol Sylvia o Ana Medina (en la rectoría). Puede ser un buen regalo o un recuerdo para dar a futures generaciones.
