This celebration will take place on Sunday, December 2, 2001, at 3 p.m. at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Fall River. UNITED INTERFAITH ACTION A C T I O N WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 14 @ Mt. Carmel School Auditorium on Rivet Street in New Bedford @ 7 p.m. Every year the twelve congregations of both Protestant and Catholic Churches in the cities of New Bedford and Fall River that belong to a coalition called UIA have an "ACTION" meeting. The mayors of both Fall River and New Bedford will be attending. The state Representatives will also be in attendance. We are gathering to speak about the very high dropout rate of high school students in our cities. We also will be talking with our elected officials about what can be done to train our adults for new jobs. We are encouraging our parishioners to go to this meeting. It is that one time in the year when we ask you just to be at the meeting. You don’t have to say anything. You don’t have to do anything. Your presence in large numbers will show our elected officials that these concerns about education and jobs are important. We are planning to have five hundred people at the meeting. Numbers certainly speak loudly! Plan to be with us. We have committed 50 parishioners to be at the Action. Will we do it? . |
