RENEW 2000 INTRODUCTION
As we witness the new becoming of the third millennium since the birth of Christ, Pope John Paul II has called for a "new evangelization". To establish this new form of preaching, the process of Renew 2000 & Beyond was developed. Many communities across the nation, as well as, our own Diocese have accepted this invitation of change. When examining this change the ideals of prayer, learning, understanding and sharing the gospel seem to define the process of Renew. Therefore, it provides a means to strengthen our faith in God, to recognize Him in ordinary events of life and to embrace the wonderful gift of the Holy Spirit. To help us achieve this relationship with God we must come together as a community. Our Day of Prayer that is scheduled for September 15 and faith sharing groups beginning in October and in Lent are the core to the Renew process. During these gatherings particular topics that come from Catechism of the Catholic Church and Holy Scripture will be discuss. We welcome you to participate as little or as much as you would like throughout this process and hope that this opportunity for enriching our faith and the communities in which we live. |
